Thank you for contacting me about the situation in Bahrain.

Human rights and democracy are fundamental to the values the UK champions on the world stage. That is why Bahrain is one of thirty-one human rights priority countries for our Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO).

The FCDO continues to monitor and raise the case of Dr Abduljalil al-Singace, Hassan Mushaima, Mohamed Ramadhan, Hussain Moosa and others as necessary, with the Bahraini Government as well as with the oversight bodies.

HM Government regularly raises human rights issues with the Government of Bahrain, including at a ministerial level. I am assured that it will continue to encourage the principles of good government and human rights to be upheld in Bahrain.

There have been several debates on human rights in Bahrain over the past year so I know that my fellow MPs will be keen to scrutinise the Government’s response to events as they play out.
