Don't Change the Constitution Without Consensus

Our constitution shouldn't be tinkered with lightly. Changes should only be made when there is a broad consensus behind them rather than based on purely partisan views.

Today we debated the House of Lords (Hereditary Peers) Bill. I didn't intend to speak, but having listened carefully to the debate on both sides of the House, I decided to make a contribution.

Today I visited Tennyson Wharf Care Home in Burton Waters.They were marking the tenth anniversary of the home with a party — it was great that ABBA turned up to sing to us!
