We Conservative Members genuinely wish the Home Secretary well, because otherwise, in her own words, the country will start falling apart.
I told her the reforms she announced today are a good effort — a 7out of 10.
She clearly has strong conservative instincts, but does she fear that the misery in many of these countries is such that asylum seekers are not really worried about how long they have to wait for their claim to be processed?
Does she fear that unless we arrest, detain and deport people very quickly, this problem will just go on and on? Will she have an open mind about schemes such as Rwanda?
