Sir Edward Leigh in the Chamber

We need to pursue as many valid and productive ways of producing energy as possible. Whilst heavily investing in nuclear power such as the new site at West Burton and other renewables where appropriate, we can also still use the natural gas and oil available to us. A sensible middle way can be found. We mustn't rule out new licenses for oil and gas extraction in the North Sea. As the Chancellor said herself in her statement "We must guarantee our domestic oil and gas industry can play a role in our energy system for decades to come".

You can view my question and the Chancellor's answer here.
