Tragically, there was a fatal stabbing in Market Rasen on the 12th of March.
This awful occurrence follows on from a non-fatal stabbing earlier in the year – many of my constituents have conveyed to me that they feel the town is becoming less safe and report a perceived rise in crime. For a small rural town, it is not normal to have such a spike in disorder and violence, nor is it in line with the generally pleasant and peaceful town that I and many other residents of the local area know.
I personally believe the town requires a more significant police presence, not only to deter and prevent these kinds of crime, but also to reassure the people of the town and make them feel safer.
I have been in touch with both West Lindsey District Council and the Chief Constable regarding the matter.
