The "Class of 1983"

It is now forty years since I was first elected to Parliament.

Five of us Conservatives from the 1983 election continue to serve: Sir Christopher Chope, me, Sir Roger Gale, Sir David Evennett, and Sir Greg Knight.

My thanks to the people of the Gainsborough constituency for giving me this great privilege. It is an honour.
